General Motors together with the Bezalel School of Art and Design in Israel are working on interactive windows that are used by passengers in the back seat of a car.
Unlike the BMW interactive screen that appeared in front sci-fi movie Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, the actual project dubbed Windows of Opportunity (Opportunity Windows) conceptualizes new ways to help rear seat passengers - especially children - to have a different experience, just as proposed by Toyota with its concept of "Window to the World".
Windows of Opportunity is based on psychological studies that indicate that passenger cars often feel disconnected from their surroundings, so GM called Bezalel students convert your car windows in interactive displays that can foster curiosity and a greater connection to the world outside the vehicle.
GM has no immediate plans to put interactive windows in their vehicles, but has given vent to their development. Bezalel students have created a prototype that uses motion technology and optical sensor developed by EyeClick to convert the common window glass in a multi-touch surface.
